COVID Vaccine Information for Aviation Workers

COVID Vaccine Information for Aviation Workers

Updated June 6, 2021

As travel ramps up, it's more important than ever that we help instill confidence in the safety of aviation. Since the first vaccines were approved, our union advocated for Flight Attendants to be included with other essential workers in priority groups for voluntary access. Now the vaccine is available for adults in the U.S. and children 12 and older.

We have reached a pivotal moment in the pandemic – the new normal is on the horizon. Getting vaccinated as quickly as possible is our path out of this crisis (and on our planes we also help keep the virus in check with the mask mandate through September.). Let’s get ourselves, more of our friends, families, and neighbors vaccinated during this National Month of Action leading up to July 4th.

Have you been vaccinated yet? Take the Flight Attendant Vaccine Survey.

Still need to get a shot? Go to vaccines.gov to find a location near you, then call or visit their website to make an appointment and get vaxxed!

In the U.S., 299 million doses have been given so far and 137 million people have been fully vaccinated. In the last week, an average of 1.1 million doses per day were administered.

AFA and most airlines have distributed vaccine priority letters to help Flight Attendants establish essential worker priority vaccine status and get the vaccine. Download AFA's Flight Attendant Vaccine Priority letter here.

We will continue to maintain and update this page for aviation workers to find your current vaccine priority and resources to register for and receive the vaccine. The vaccination rollouts have differed or changed from the state's previously established tiers—email [email protected] if you have additional information about your state.

Tips for Flight Attendants Trying to Get the Vaccine

How do I schedule an appointment for a vaccine?
Vaccines.gov helps you find locations that carry COVID-19 vaccines and their contact information. Because every location handles appointments differently, you will need to schedule your appointment directly with the location you choose.

Are COVID-19 vaccines safe?
Yes, COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history. CDC recommends you get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as one is available to you.

How much do COVID-19 vaccines cost?
Nothing, your vaccination is free. The federal government is providing the vaccine free of charge to all people living in the United States, regardless of their immigration or health insurance status.

Where can I get a free ride and/or childcare for my vaccine appointment?
All Americans are eligible for a free ride to-and-from your vaccine appointments. Additionally, childcare providers are offering free care so parents and caregivers can get vaccinated and recuperate. Visit the incentives page for more details.

How can I get help in my own language? If you speak a language other than English or Spanish and need help finding a vaccine provider near you or have general questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, please call 1-800-232-0233.
